Our plastic surgeon, Carrie Houssock, MD, and a male patient were recently featured on WMAR Baltimore in a segment titled, “More Men Turning to Cosmetic Surgery to Hold on to the Fountain of Youth.” Dr. Houssock explains that cosmetic procedures designed to help patients reduce visible signs of aging are growing in popularity among men. She also mentions that in the last 20 years, there has been a 325% increase in males seeking plastic surgery. During the segment, Dr. Houssock and her patient discuss his areas of concern and the non-surgical treatment options that can help him attain his aesthetic goals.
Concerned with mild to moderate facial aging and a double chin, the patient wanted to restore a more youthful appearance. Dr. Houssock introduced him to injectable treatments capable of delivering the natural-looking, and still masculine, results he desires. To relax his furrowed brow and forehead wrinkles, which he believes give him an “angry” appearance, she carefully injected BOTOX® Cosmetic. In areas where he required a bit more fullness, she injected dermal fillers, which smoothed deep creases and added youthful volume. Finally, she suggested treatment with injectable KYBELLA® to reduce excess fat beneath the chin for a leaner jawline and neck contour. In the future, he is also excited to explore non-surgical hair restoration with Platelet Rich Plasma and ACell® (PRP) therapy offered at our practice.
