This advanced method was designed specifically to contour the upper abdomen (i.e., the area above the belly button) and produce a slimmer, more proportionate silhouette.

What Are the Benefits of a Reverse Tummy Tuck?

When performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, a reverse tummy tuck can:

  • Sculpt, flatten, and firm the upper abdomen
  • Address sagging skin, lax muscles, and unwanted fat above the belly button
  • Be combined with breast surgeries (such as breast augmentation or mastopexy) for a comprehensive enhancement
  • Improve confidence and self-image
  • Allow patients to feel more comfortable in a wider range of clothing
  • Produce minimal noticeable scarring

How Is a Reverse Tummy Tuck Performed?

Dr. Houssock generally performs the reverse tummy tuck procedure in two steps. First, she places incisions within the bra line, extending from the breast (or “inframammary”) crease through the midline. From there, she will tighten, repair, and redrape excess skin as needed. Next, Dr. Houssock will typically employ advanced liposuction techniques to remove unwanted fat and complete the contour of the area.

Because incisions for a reverse tummy tuck are usually made within the inframammary crease, scarring is often minimal; additionally, any scars that do appear can be hidden easily with clothing and bras. Moreover, post-operative compression garments and drains are typically necessary to aid in recovery and control swelling.

Following the surgery, Dr. Houssock generally encourages patients to engage in light activity for six weeks to encourage proper healing. With this in mind, many patients opt to take one to two weeks off from work.

How Much Does a Reverse Tummy Tuck Cost?

A reverse tummy tuck at our Baltimore-area practice typically costs between $10,000 and $11,000. That said, pricing will depend on the following factors:

  • Surgeon’s fees
  • Operating room fees
  • Pre- and post-operative care
  • Specifics of the procedure
  • Incorporation of other treatments
